I grew up admiring middle distance runners and I avidly followed the British milers Coe and Ovett when I was in school. Unfortunately, I simply didn't have the natural speed for the middle distances and I didn't have much success.

When I was 42, I gave ultra a try. I started to train longer runs and 7 weeks later I was signed up for my first race. In late 2009, I ran a 6 hour race and now I only run ultra.
